About the Role:
The Machinist role is critical in manufacturing high-quality precision components by operating and maintaining various machine tools, including CNC machines and manual lathes. This position requires interpreting detailed blueprints and technical drawings to produce parts that meet exact specifications and tolerances. The successful candidate will ensure that all machined parts are accurately measured and inspected using precision measuring instruments to maintain quality standards. Additionally, the Machinist will be responsible for setting up, adjusting, and troubleshooting machine tools to optimize production efficiency and minimize downtime. Ultimately, this role contributes to the overall success of the manufacturing process by delivering precise, reliable, and defect-free components that meet customer and company requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proven experience operating CNC machines and manual lathes in a machine shop environment.
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Proficiency in precision measuring techniques and use of measuring instruments.
Knowledge of machine tool setup, operation, and maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in machining or CNC operation from a recognized technical institution.
Experience with tool and die making.
Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for programming CNC machines.
Understanding of quality control processes and standards in manufacturing.
Ability to work with a variety of materials including metals and plastics.
Responsibilities:
Operate CNC machines and manual lathes to manufacture precision parts according to engineering specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements.
Set up machine tools, including selecting and installing appropriate tooling and fixtures.
Perform precision measuring and inspection of machined parts using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of machine tools to ensure optimal performance.
Deburr and finish machined parts to meet quality and safety standards.
Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve machining issues and improve processes.
Maintain a clean and organized machine shop environment adhering to safety protocols.
Skills:
The required skills such as CNC machine operation, precision measuring, and blueprint reading are essential for accurately producing machined parts that meet strict specifications. Daily use of machine tools and manual lathes allows the Machinist to shape and finish components with high precision and efficiency.
