Senior Procurement Specialist

The Sr. Specialist, Procurement in Evadale, TX will ensure timely and cost-effective procurement aligned with manufacturing schedules, quality standards, and strategic business goals. The ideal candidate offers proven experience in managing complex supply chains, building strong internal and external partnerships, and developing cost effective strategies. The successful candidate will report to the Purchasing Manager.
How you will impact Smurfit WestRock:
Develop and execute sourcing strategies for materials to support production plans and cost targets
Collaborate with production, planning, maintenance and engineering teams to forecast material needs and ensure supply continuity
Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers capable of meeting quality, delivery, and cost requirements
Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to optimize value and mitigate risk
Monitor supplier performance and lead corrective actions when needed
Analyze market trends, pricing, and supply risks to inform procurement decisions
Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase orders, and supplier documentation
Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes and supplier collaboration
Utilize procurement analytics and KPIs to drive data-informed decision-making
Leverage ERP/MRP systems and e-sourcing platforms for procurement execution
Demonstrated understanding of Procure-to-Pay (P2P) and Source-to-Contract (S2C) processes
What you need to succeed:
Bachelor's degree preferred or 10 years related experience.
Strong proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
Ability to solve problems, work independently, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to support process improvement and operational efficiency
Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment with an understanding of production dynamics and material flow
Financial acumen including the ability to assess cost drivers and support cost analysis initiatives
Support or lead project implementations, particularly those involving cross-functional teams
