Job Description
Perform visual inspection of overhead and underground electrical distribution facilities and equipment to compile field data, prepare minor work orders, and generate maintenance reports for distribution equipment. Extensive travel will be required.
Responsibilities
Perform various field technical services for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical distribution systems, including system inventories and audits, joint use management and permitting, pad-mount inspections, ground-line pole inspections, metering and apparatus services, and lighting audits.
Utilize laptop computer, tablet device, GPS, and other electronic devices to collect field data for input into database software as necessary.
Develop a working knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), electric utility construction standards, and telephone, cable, and other communication facilities.
Operate necessary equipment to take measurements on utility poles and mid-span facilities, perform pole inspections, and inspect and perform maintenance on pad-mount equipment.
Meet weekly billable goals as defined by the project guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
Telecommunication and distribution system knowledge.
Ability to start as a fielder and transition into a designer role after approximately three months.
Familiarity with joint use team operations and AutoCAD software.
Distribution design experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma required; Associate's Degree in Engineering or similar discipline preferred.
Electric utility or telecommunications field experience preferred but not required.
Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) preferred.
Proficiency with computers and software applications, especially MS Office products, is desired.
Valid driver's license is required.
No prior experience or certifications required.
Work Environment
Typically, work four 10-hour shifts from Monday through Thursday, with Fridays off. The work schedule includes office work on Monday and Tuesday and the option to work from home on Wednesday and Thursday. Travel is primarily regional to the utility client's territory during the business day, although overnight travel is to be expected. Most travel will be day trips, but candidates should be open to overnight travel when needed.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.50/hr.
