About Us
WeVote is a nonpartisan get-out-the-vote nonprofit startup and a celebrated Fast Forward nonprofit technology grantee. WeVote is a movement of over 140 passionate volunteers (starting with the founders) who are building open-source mobile technologies that touch and mobilize millions of voters on Election Day. WeVote Executive Director, Job Definition
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Co-Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic responsibility for WeVote's programs, fundraising, expansion, and execution of its mission. Operational responsibility will be shared with other senior leaders. The ED will need to develop deep knowledge of the field, core programs, operations, and business plans.
We are exploring distributing development responsibilities among multiple individuals, focusing on areas like Large Donors, Foundations, and Small Donation Programs. Flexibility and a team-first approach are key.
This is a volunteer position requiring at least 20 hours per week, mostly during work hours.
Leadership & Management
Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence, evaluation, and quality across finance, administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources for strategic goals
Engage and energize board members, partner organizations, and funders
Develop and support a strong Board of Directors; involve them in strategic direction
Lead, coach, develop, and retain a high-performance senior management team; implement effective systems to track progress and evaluate programs, preferably using Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)
Fundraising & Communications
Expand and manage fundraising activities supporting existing programs, estimated at $50K - $100K annually. We have support from the Fast Forward network for fundraising and management resources.
Leverage relationships to pursue new funding from foundations, individual donors, grants, and small donors. Build capacity and enjoy the process.
Potential to seek nonpartisan grants related to increasing down-ballot engagement regionally.
Qualifications
Thorough commitment to WeVote's mission
Proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience
At least 10 years of senior management experience, with a track record of leading and scaling performance-based organizations
Experience in data-driven program evaluation and quality assurance
Organizational management skills: coaching staff, managing high-performance teams, strategic planning, budgeting
Experience working with stakeholders and cultivating board relationships
Strong marketing, PR, and fundraising skills
Excellent written and verbal communication; persuasive and passionate
Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, innovative
Ability to collaborate with diverse groups
