Our Client, an Entertainment/Streaming Service company, is looking for a QA Engineer for their Los Gatos, CA location.
Responsibilities: Set up and configure test devices across TV, Set Top Box, Mobile, and Web platforms for test runs and analysis.
Execute manual tests and suites of automated tests, report results, and identify regressions between builds.
Identify, document, and track defects, inconsistencies, and playback issues.
Support device lab operations, including deploying new devices and maintaining test infrastructure.
Recommend and implement process improvements to optimize testing efficiency and coverage.
Test and evaluate device capabilities across a wide range of hardware, focusing on performance, audio, video picture quality, graphics, and user interface features.
Assess device compatibility and performance for various content types, including streaming, live events, and gaming.
Audit and validate the implementation of key technologies and features to ensure consistency with industry standards.
Conduct spot audits and participate in A/B testing to support feature enablement and optimization for large device fleets.
Perform pre-release testing to ensure high-quality user experiences and minimize issues before launch.
Collaborate with internal teams to document findings, troubleshoot issues, and support ongoing quality assurance and certification processes.
Requirements: 3+ years of experience in software or hardware QA testing roles.
You're comfortable setting up and working with a variety of devices (TVs, Android, Linux devices, web browsers, etc.) Solid understanding of QA methodologies, best practices, and testing techniques.
Experience creating and executing detailed test plans and cases.
Strong documentation and troubleshooting skills.
You're a clear communicator and an effective collaborator, especially with distributed engineering teams.
You're comfortable working independently and bringing clarity to ambiguous situations.
You care deeply about quality and user experience.
Flexibility to perform testing outside of standard business hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, as needed to meet project deadlines or support live events.
Familiarity with test automation infrastructure or CI/CD systems.
Experience working in device labs or with test orchestration tools.
Knowledge of REST APIs and backend/client interactions Previous experience testing media streaming applications or embedded devices Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python). Hands-on experience evaluating audio and video quality across various devices and platforms.
Foundational understanding of video production and broadcast workflows.
