The Medical Assistant - Phlebotomist helpsproviders with the delivery of patient care, providing basic triage, andhelping to ensure safe care is provided.

Duties andResponsibilities:•Reviews and prepares medical records toensure completeness prior to patient exam, obtaining missing documentation.Documents clinic visit, observations, and related activities.

•Assists with initiation of patient historyand physical assessment.

Assists nurses and physicians with physical exams andsimple in-house procedures.•Checks patient vital signs and takes bodymeasurements, documenting results in patient chart.•Prepares and maintains exam and treatmentrooms, cleaning after patient discharges to ensure a clean and sanitizedenvironment.

•Maintains supplies inventory and ensurespatient care equipment is clean and properly functioning, reporting defectiveequipment and supplies to supervisor.•Perform phlebotomy procedures.

Collectsspecimens and prepares them for outside lab and performs urinalysis on urinespecimens.

Prepares lab results for physicians to sign.•Administers breathing treatments andinjections, performs EKGs•Answers phone calls, relaying patientrequests and questions to appropriate individuals.

Explains providerinstructions to patient, as appropriate.•Provides teaching to patients and familieswithin scope of knowledge base.•Assists with scheduling/referral of patientsfor specific treatments.•Responds to medical emergencies andadministers first aid as appropriate.•Provide Medical OfficeAssistant clinical support for other site locations as needed.•Performs other duties as required.MinimumQualifications:•High school diploma or equivalent (Required)•Successful completion of an approved Medical Assistant/Phlebotomy program•Five (5) years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant preferred•Phlebotomy experience: Five (5) years (Required) CPR Certification (Preferred) BLS Certification (Preferred) Physical Requirements:The physicalactivities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing,walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.

Musthave good balance and coordination.

The physical requirements of this positionare medium work - exerting up to 50 lbs.

The Medical Assistant (Phlebotomist) is required tohave close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of visionto perform an activity, such as assessing patients, and analyzing data andfigures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.

Exposure to patient bodyfluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
