Position Description: SUMMARYThe Server is the primary interaction between the guest and the restaurant and acts as a liaison between guests and the kitchen and ensures the quality and timeliness of all orders. The Server ensures all guests are provided with prompt and friendly service according to Sauced standards. They are the face of the establishment, and it is their responsibility to ensure that guests have a positive experience when dining in the restaurant.ESSENTIAL DUTIESTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.\tGreets the guests in a friendly and courteous manner and explain any specials and/or restaurant promotions for guest awareness.\tHelps guests select food and beverages by having an extensive knowledge of the food and drink menus, suggesting menu items, and answering food preparation questions.\tStays updated on current menu options, specialties and menu deviations, and be aware if the kitchen staff is running out of any items.\tIdentifies any special dietary needs, takes the order and inputs the order into the Point of Sale system to inform the kitchen of the particulars of the order.\tKeeps kitchen staff informed by noting timing of meal progression.\tIf required, serves orders by picking up and delivering from the bar and kitchen and deliver accompaniments and condiments when needed.\tMonitors guest satisfaction throughout the meal service and refill water glasses and offer more beverages when low.\tPromptly addresses customer service issues and refer customers to management when necessary.\tAsks the guests how they enjoyed their dining experience and invite them to return.\tAccurately issues bills, complete payment transactions, and return change or credit card signature slips to guests. Be courteous and offer to resolve bill disputes and involve a supervisor if necessary.\tContributes to the team effort by effectively communicating with other staff members.\tChecks station before, during and after shift for proper set-up and cleanliness.\tPerforms basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by a supervisor.\tAssists with special events as needed.\tAdheres to grooming and appearance standards consistently.\tProtects establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety and alcohol beverage control policies.\tAbides by all State, Federal regulations and restaurant liquor policies pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.\tOther duties and responsibilities as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.\tExcellent verbal communication skills.\tMust maintain a friendly and courteous demeanor, even while under stress.\tAbility to solve practical problems.\tAbility to multi-task and establish effective priorities.\tAssumes a professional working relationship between customers, staff and management.\tAble to work independently and in a team environment.\tAbility to adjust to changing schedules and priorities.\tMust be punctual, have good attendance, and a reliable means of transportation to work.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE\tHigh School diploma or GED preferred.\t1+ years of relevant experience and/or training in a restaurant environment.\t18 years of age or older.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSMust have and maintain a California Food Handler Certification.Obtain any necessary alcohol service city, state and federal licensing requirements.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
