API Engineer

About the Role :

We are hiring an experienced API Engineer with 5 to 7 years of expertise in designing, developing, and automating APIs. The candidate should have strong hands-on experience with RESTful APIs using Swagger/OpenAPI, deep knowledge of API security protocols, and proven ability to ensure API versioning, scalability, and consistency. In this role, you will work closely with both frontend and backend teams to define requirements, build secure and reliable APIs, and continuously monitor their performance and error rates.

Key Responsibilities :

Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using Swagger/Open API specifications.

Collaborate with frontend and backend teams to define API requirements and ensure seamless integration.

Implement API automation to improve testing, deployment, and monitoring processes.

Define and enforce API standards, versioning, and design consistency across services.

Implement and maintain modern security protocols such as OAuth2, JWT, and OpenID Connect.

Monitor and analyze API performance metrics, latency, and error rates to maintain high availability.

Troubleshoot issues in production environments, working closely with DevOps/Infra teams.

Contribute to API documentation, guidelines, and governance for developers and stakeholders.

Continuously improve API performance, scalability, and developer experience.

Must-Have Skills :

5 to 7 years of experience in API Development & Automation.

Strong expertise in RESTful APIs with hands-on experience using Swagger/Open API.

Proven experience in API Security Protocols OAuth2, JWT, OpenID, etc.

Ability to collaborate effectively with frontend and backend engineering teams.

Strong knowledge of API versioning, design consistency, and best practices.

Experience in monitoring API performance and error tracking.

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for API delivery and automation.

Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.

Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Good to Have :

Exposure to GraphQL APIs.

Experience with microservices architecture and cloud-native deployments (OpenShift, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, GCP).

Familiarity with API Gateways (Apigee, Kong, AWS API Gateway, etc.).

Knowledge of logging and monitoring tools (ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana).

Full-Time
