Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead HVAC Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC system installation, maintenance, and repair, as well as the ability to supervise and mentor a team of technicians and apprentices. The Lead HVAC Technician will ensure all projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and lead a team of HVAC technicians and apprentices, ensuring projects are executed on time and within budget.
Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems in residential and light commercial settings, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ventilation systems.
Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system issues and recommend effective solutions.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and system schematics.
Ensure all work complies with local, state, and national codes and safety regulations.
Conduct quality control inspections to ensure work meets company and client standards.
Train and mentor team members to improve their technical skills and support their professional development.
Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working order.
Prepare project reports and maintain accurate records of work performed.
Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client questions and concerns.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED; additional technical training or certification is a plus.
Valid HVAC license in Virginia.
EPA certification for handling refrigerants.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in residential and/or light commercial HVAC work.
Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, tools, and materials.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to train and supervise inexperienced crew members.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Commitment to workplace safety and professional standards.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in various conditions, including confined spaces, heights, and outdoor environments.
Capable of lifting heavy equipment and materials (up to 50 pounds).
Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, and crouching.
