Residential HVAC Installer

Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Install and replace furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ductless mini-splits according to manufacturer specifications and local codes.

Perform system start-ups, charge refrigerant circuits, and verify proper operation.

Fabricate and install sheet metal duct transitions, plenums, and returns.

Install and connect thermostats, low- and line-voltage wiring, and condensate management systems.

Ensure gas piping is installed and tested per code.

Maintain a clean and organized worksite; protect customers’ property during installations.

Clearly communicate with homeowners about the scope of work and answer questions as needed.

Assist or train apprentices/helpers on proper installation techniques.

Complete installation checklists and required documentation.

Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

2+ years of residential HVAC installation experience (retrofits & new construction).

EPA 608 certification (Type II or Universal).

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Ability to lift 75 lbs, work in confined spaces (attics, crawlspaces), and use ladders.

Familiarity with local Michigan mechanical codes and best practices.

Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

NATE certification or other advanced HVAC credentials.

Experience with ductless systems, zoning, and high-efficiency variable-speed equipment.

Basic sheet metal fabrication skills.
