Job Description
Performs major work under general supervision in accordance with standard trade practices; responsible for work procedures and methods involving transmission (complete rebuild and replacement), body, electrical (complete wiring), cranking (complete system), charging (complete system), engine (complete rebuild and replacement (gas and diesel), lifts (complete rebuild and replacement), exhaust (complete), cooling (complete system), brake (complete system (air and hydraulic)), chassis (complete suspension system), adaptive equipment (complete knowledge of proper use and installation), ignition (complete system), steering (complete system), wheels (all aspects), fuel system (gas-diesel-carbureted-injection-propane), driveline (total driveline), welding (stick-wire-tig), air-conditioning (complete system) and diagnostic (computer analysis-electrical failure-trouble shooting-air-conditioning-wheelchair lifts drivability)
Performs service calls; performs preventative maintenance inspection; prepares work orders; trains other county employees in the proper use and maintenance of all county vehicles; handles parts distribution and intake
Must obtain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within the probationary period (120 days
May assign, schedule and inspect all work during assigned hours
