Tool Changeover Technician - 2nd Shift

Summary

This position is directly responsible for all tooling changeovers within the plant including repairs and preventative maintenance work orders as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Must be capable of obtaining forklift & crane certifications as required to perform tool changes

Required to troubleshoot, maintain and repair steam molds, trim tools, waterjet fixtures, end of arm tooling and fixtures.

Must be capable of troubleshooting problems related to tool changes with minimum process interruption.

Ability to perform preventative and corrective maintenance activities.

Required to provide and maintaining a safe workplace for production including use of cleaning tools (floor scrubbers, vacuum canisters, hand tools, etc….)

Ability to learn the HMI’s and Dry Cycle Equipment as needed to complete changeovers.

Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing steam mold, trim tool, water bucks, end of arm tools, and fixtures

Completion of work orders and preventative maintenance orders

Able to perform all duties assigned with little or no supervision

Able to escalation issues per escalation process

Able to identify and effectively communicate issues related to tool changeovers

Ensures PM activities are completed as scheduled

Works to develop and implement methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality

Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner

Must be capable following standard work procedures leading up to and including all activities within a changeover

Ensure compliance with all related IATF-16949 and ISO-14001 policies and procedures

Ability to work safely by following policies and procedures in a fast paced industrial environment

Must be able to adequately train production team members as required in C/O’s

Must be able to complete repairs as needed related to steam lines, hydraulic lines, airlines, etc.

Ability to use shop equipment: such as sanders, drill press, surface grinder, drills, crimpers, etc.

Tool Setting, welding, cutting and fitting experience is a plus.

Education / Experience Preferred:

High school diploma

Experience with Kaizen and other continuous improvement processes is a plus

Language Ability:

Ability to write reports and correspondence and to effectively present information is required

Math Ability:

Basic math skills are required

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve complex problems in situations where only limited standardization exists is required

Computer Skills:

Limited Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Internet, and E-mail is required

Experience with Word, Excel, Power Point

Experience with SAP is a Plus

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds. The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat and outside risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the environment is moderate.
