Union Data Center Lead Technician

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Install and decommission network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center environment.

Deliver sustainable, repeatable solutions and processes with a focus on continuous improvement.

Provide structured progress updates to stakeholders.

Maintain high-quality workmanship and uphold Data Center cleanliness standards.

Follow all production, safety, and quality standards, codes, and industry best practices.

Collaborate with stakeholders to remove project obstacles.

Read and comprehend blueprints, building documentation, and redline work.

Demonstrate a broad understanding of Data Center infrastructure technologies.

Skills and Qualifications

Proficient with basic telecom hand tools.

Capable of leading crews of 1–5 technicians and accountable for work outcomes.

Strong customer service skills; able to perform job walks and communicate project requirements.

Clear understanding of job safety requirements.

Ability to read and interpret job floor plans.

Knowledge of wiring schemes, testing, and low voltage cable pulling.

Skilled in field terminations, labeling, and dressing of all cable types.

Able to manage paperwork, midsize to large projects, and service jobs.

Experience with MDF and IDF closet layouts, fiber/copper terminations, and troubleshooting.

Familiarity with analog, DSL, T1 line extensions, and network equipment patching.

Experience in Data Center environments and understanding of SLAs/metrics.

Ability to coordinate with QA/QC for quality status walks and contribute to project close-out.

Skilled in identifying team members’ strengths/weaknesses and mentoring as needed.

Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Rate: $38.40 – $43.20 (dependent on skills, experience, and qualifications)
