We’re seeking a full-time Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA) / Admitting Representative to join our Rural Health Convenient Care. This is a day-shift position, Monday through Friday—with rotating Saturdays!

Immediate Supervisor: RHC Director

Job Summary:

A Convenient Care Receptionist/Medical Assistant plays a vital dual role, combining front-office administrative duties with essential clinical support in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This position is responsible for managing patient registration, insurance processing, appointment scheduling, and basic patient care activities, ensuring a seamless and positive experience for all patients.

The Convenient Care Receptionist/Medical Assistant is inclusive of but not limited to the job description for the RHC Receptionist job description, in addition to the responsibilities outlined in this job description.

Primary duties include but are not limited to:

Basic Clinical Support:

Obtain and record vital signs and patient histories when needed.

Assist providers during patient examinations and perform basic procedures such as phlebotomy or specimen collection when needed.

Provides patient education.

Communicates and collaborates with providers and team members to provide coordinated care, serving as an advocate for the patient.

Maintains clean work areas and treatment rooms.

Administers medications, injections and immunizations as directed by PA/NP.

Assists in completing patient medical records, work slips, or absentee slips, physicals and immunization records.

Processes orders for outpatient testing.

As directed by PA/NP, processes prescriptions, communicates directly or through electronic means with pharmacies to coordinate patient prescriptions.

Skills and Qualifications:

Communication & Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach.

Medical Knowledge: Understanding of medical terminology and basic billing practices.

Technical Proficiency: Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.

Clinical Skills: Ability to take vital signs and assist in basic medical procedures.

Organizational Ability: Strong multitasking, time management, and problem-solving skills.

Teamwork & Independence: Capable of working both collaboratively and independently.

Training:

Six weeks to train and six months to become proficient in all tasks.

Participate in continuing education programs as required by certification.

Ongoing training including but not limited to review of all policies, procedures, and protocols pertinent to responsibilities.

Mandatory training as announced to meet the needs of the organization.

Certifications:

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)-preferred.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Experience:

1 year of clinic or hospital experience required

Immunizations:

Immunizations required per IDPH, CDC, and CMS

Benefits and Compensation:

PTO earned per hour worked .085/hr up to 3.40 hours a week.
