WAGE IS NEGOTIABLE BASED UPON EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Shall provide timely monthly and annual reports that are both quantitative and analytical to the General Manager.
Shall submit purchase requisitions for all orders to the purchasing department in a timely manner.
Shall prepare and administer the budget for the Gift Shop.
Will follow the Menominee Casino, Bingo, Hotel procurement policies as written.
Shall maintain adequate and proper inventories to meet the needs of our guests.
Shall be responsible for the selection, training, promoting, and termination of all Gift Shop/Smoke Shop employees.
Shall train employees of the Gift Shop/Smoke Shop in the following areas:
Proper cash register technique.
Proper stocking and facing of shelves.
Friendly guest service techniques.
Update training as needed.
Department policies and procedures.
Tribal Internal Controls
Familiarity with shop inventory and pertinent locations.
Shall keep all records up to date and supplied to the accounting department in a timely fashion.
Shall schedule the working hours for all personnel consistent with guest needs.
Shall supervise monthly inventory of all shop merchandise.
Shall maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times.
Shall not accept any tips or gratuities from suppliers/vendors outside approved Personnel Policy and Procedure requirements on gratuities.
Shall maintain a cooperative working relationship with all other departments.
Shall be responsible to maximize the profits of the shop.
Shall perform additional duties as assigned by upper management.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Applicant shall have a High School diploma or its equivalency.
Shall have at least two years of post-high school education with emphasis in business/marketing and or accounting.
Shall have demonstrated a proven work record in previous positions.
Ideal candidate must have at least three (3) years’ experience in the operation of a gift shop, smoke shop, or similar retail activity.
Must also have a minimum of two- (2) years’ experience supervising employees.
Four to six years’ management experience required.
Shall be knowledgeable with computers, Word, Excel, etc.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to work unusual hours, nights and weekends.
Candidate must be of good integrity, honest and trustworthy.
Must be able to communicate effectively with all staff members.
Must have the ability to understand and analyze profit and loss statements the previous month’s activity in the Gift Shop/Smoke Shop.
The ideal candidate must possess knowledge/experience in the areas of inventory, purchasing controls, sales and proper product display.
Must be twenty (21) years of age or older.
Preference given to qualified Menominee or other Native American Applicants.
Must be able to withstand a background check.
Must be able to be approved for and maintain a valid gaming license.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
No person shall be eligible for employment at Menominee Casino Resort/Thunderbird complex if they have been convicted, or have a pending unresolved charge of:
Any crime which would require compliance with the reporting requirements for sex offenders pursuant to Menominee or Wisconsin law; or
A felony conviction of any kind in the immediately preceding two years
A crime of any kind related to gambling in the immediately preceding two years
A crime of any kind related to theft, fraud, or misrepresentation in the immediately preceding two years;
A crime of any kind related to a crime of violence, or involving domestic violence, or a drug offense involving sale of drugs, or possession with intent to sell drugs during the immediately preceding two years.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, and public groups.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
