The Middle East, Russia & Africa (MERA) Investigations Lead oversees and manages investigations, with the support of analytics support professionals, partner functions, outside counsel and other third parties to identify and mitigate significant legal, financial, reputational and patient safety risk in the region.

The role includes:

Developing investigative strategy and managing the investigation of all matters within MERA;

Assessing and reporting regional cross functional investigations matter and trend analytics to senior internal and external stakeholders including the Board, Executive and Regional Leadership Teams, Quality & Risk Committees, and to our external auditors;

Supporting the divisional proactive risk management strategy through risk identification; developing and conducting aggregate and individual matter root cause analysis to determine cause of misconduct and enable tailored remediation for risk mitigation.

The remit and responsibilities of this role are cornerstones of the Compliance & Risk Organizations and critical components of the Department of Justice’s expectations of an effective compliance program.

What You Will Achieve

In this role, you will:

Lead and manage investigations in MERA, including all stages of the investigative process, from matter scoping, document analysis and research, colleague interviews, factual and legal analysis, root cause assessment and designing effective remediation in partnership with key stakeholders across the business and enabling functions

Coordinate and manage analytics support professionals, outside counsel and other third parties to mitigate significant legal, financial, reputational and patient safety risk through investigations, data analysis and reporting

Coordinate with the Government Litigation Group on matters involving governments in the region

Prepare and present written work product, including memoranda and PowerPoint presentations, summarizing the investigative process and findings.

Coordinate closeout meetings and calls with business leaders to discuss discipline and corrective action recommendations

Ensure accurate and insightful quarterly and other reports are provided to Compliance leads, Compliance leadership, and other Pfizer committees and stakeholders as necessary

Maintain files and records, and update the data management database to reflect activity and progress on matters.

Continuously enhance and evolve investigations strategy and processes to reflect evolution of organization, risk and technology

Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)

Juris Doctorate and a minimum of 10 years professional experience, including significant experience conducting corporate internal investigations, preferably for life sciences companies

Significant experience with the FCPA, regional anti-kickback laws, and healthcare regulations

Excellent verbal and written skills in English; fluency in Arabic and French

Demonstrated strength in leadership, judgment and initiative

Leadership presence and ability to partner with key in-market business leaders as a trusted strategic advisor

Proven capabilities to set priorities, drive results, and act efficiently and effectively within a complex business and organizational environment

Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving and strategic thinking skills; with ability to see the big picture as well as the detailed and specific relationships between topics

Strong organizational and presentation skills; Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to summarize and articulate complex concepts clearly and efficiently

Ability to understand foreign cultures and sensibilities and to communicate effectively in a global environment
