Job Summary:
The IT Administrator/Desktop Support is responsible for managing day-to-day IT operations, providing technical support to end-users, maintaining hardware and software systems, and ensuring network and systems security. This role serves as the first point of contact for internal users and plays a critical role in uptime, cybersecurity, and tech resource optimization.
Duties/Responsibilities
Provide Tier 1 support for hardware, software, and user access issues
Assist with the installation, configuration, and basic troubleshooting of desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, access points and other devices
Help maintain and update user accounts
Perform routine system updates and antivirus checks under supervision
Support video conferencing tools and basic network troubleshooting
Track and help maintain inventory of IT equipment and software licenses
Document solutions to common issues for the internal knowledge base
Assist with onboarding and offboarding by setting up user accounts, email, and equipment
Follow security guidelines for password resets, device encryption, and data protection
Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT staff
Desired Skills/Abilities
Basic knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)
Familiarity with Windows operating systems and basic networking concepts
Willingness to learn scripting, automation, and device management tools
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communication skills and ability to work well with non-technical users
Customer service mindset and ability to remain calm under pressure
Education and Experience
Associate's degree in information technology or related field, OR 1-2 years of IT/help desk experience
Preferred but not required: CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ or other relevant IT certifications
Experience with Microsoft Intune, basic PowerShell commands, or device imaging is a plus
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds for handling some hardware installations.
