Lumentum is seeking the Production Material Control Director to oversee planning, logistics, and procurement management at our Dongguan, Guangdong manufacturing site. You will own site-level supply chain execution, build a high-performance team, and implement strategies for operational excellence. This role requires proven experience in leading supply chain operations, developing cross-functional partnerships, and driving efficiency within manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Ownership:

Manage end-to-end production planning, inventory control, logistics, and procurement management for the Dongguan site.

Ensure on-time shipments, inventory optimization (turns/waste reduction), and fulfillment of customer commitments.

Oversee supply chain performance metrics (OTD, inventory health, logistics/procurement costs).

Process & Strategy:

Design/implement integrated workflows for planning, logistics, and procurement governance.

Develop site-specific strategies for procurement cost optimization (indirect), warehousing, and 3PL management.

Drive continuous improvement (Kaizen) in planning accuracy, logistics efficiency, and procurement compliance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and finance for NPI launches, engineering changes, and cost forecasting.

Collaborate with global procurement teams on supplier performance, contracts, and policy alignment.

Enhance operational visibility through data-driven variance analysis (actuals vs. forecast).

Supplier & Risk Management:

Manage procurement activities for indirect suppliers (performance, quality, delivery, cost).

Negotiate and govern logistics/3PL contracts; ensure flexibility to handle demand volatility.

Implement proactive shortage management within inventory turn targets.

Team & Culture:

Build and lead a high-performance team in planning, logistics, and procurement management.

Foster ethics, accountability, and an inclusive culture.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s/master’s in supply chain, Operations, or related field.

10 years working experience in manufacturing supply chain management and optical module industry is preferred.

Expertise in S&OP, demand/supply planning, logistics optimization, and procurement governance.

Experience in managing indirect procurement categories (MRO, facilities, services, CAPEX).

Track record in team development and operational KPI delivery (OTD, cost reduction).

Champion of continuous improvement/root-cause analysis.

Understanding of Pearl River Delta logistics networks and procurement ecosystems.

Fluent English; exceptional communication and cross-functional influence.

Integrity and adaptability in fast-paced manufacturing environments.
