The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek an academic cardiologist with clinical or translational research program in cardiac inflammation to join the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.

Position Overview

The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine seeks a board-certified/ board-eligible cardiac inflammation physician/physician-scientist with an extramurally funded clinical or translational research program to join an elite team of academic physicians at the assistant, associate, or full-rank professor. The successful candidate will focus on leading the Cardiac Inflammation Program, building research across cardiovascular disease disciplines focusing on both routine and complex cardiovascular care, including inpatient and outpatient consultative and primary services in a world-class facility at the Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital. The Ohio State University Division of Cardiovascular Medicine is setting new standards for advanced heart and vascular care through our internationally and nationally recognized experts of more than 60 cardiology and vascular medicine specialists. We offer heart and vascular patients some of the most exciting and innovative technologies, treatments, and clinical trials, many of which are only available at Ohio State. Most of our faculty are principal investigators on various research projects in basic, translational, and clinical research settings.

Requirements

- Board Eligible/Certified

- Successful completion of a US-accredited cardiology fellowship

- Eligible for an Ohio License

- Clinical or Translational Extramurally funded research preferred

- Qualify for an academic appointment at The Ohio State University - Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training and experience

The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine

The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, comprised of over 60 cardiologists with focus areas to include: general cardiology, interventional, electrophysiology, adult congenital heart disease, heart failure, heart transplantation, mechanical circulatory assist, pulmonary vascular disease, womens cardiovascular disease, cardiac MRI/CT, and cardio-oncology. The Division is affiliated with the Ross Heart Hospital, which ranked as Best Hospital in the top 50 in the nation as reported by US News and World Report. In addition to the 60 cardiologists, there are six fellowship programs: core cardiovascular medicine fellowship, interventional cardiology fellowship, electrophysiology fellowship, heart failure and cardiac transplant fellowship, adult congenital heart disease fellowship, and cardiovascular diagnostic imaging fellowship. The division provides services in over 12 counties in Ohio and Kentucky

Faculty Defined

Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a doctor of medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research.

Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care.?

Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.

The Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute (DHLRI)

Created over two decades ago to foster an integrated program encompassing fundamental research, education, and preventive efforts in heart and lung diseases the DHLRI is a critical partner with the division to drive fundamental discovery. The physical plant is comprised of >220,000 sq ft of research space over six different research building supporting >800 faculty, trainees and staff throughout the OSU Medical Center campus. Faculty in the Institute study integrated aspects of cardiopulmonary function including heart failure & arrhythmia, ischemic injury and repair, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, acute lung injury, environmental factors for cardiopulmonary disease, integrated aspects of metabolic disease, adipose tissue biology, genetic basis of human disease, and advanced therapeutics.
