General Summary:

Under the direction of the director, Domestic Equity, assist in the investment decision-making process, ongoing management, monitoring and evaluation of the large cap growth portfolio. Assist in formulation and implementation of overall domestic equity strategy for State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio).

Summary of Responsibilities:

Conduct timely portfolio analysis and management to support development and implementation of STRS Ohio’s investment strategies with a goal of meeting the long-term performance objectives of the total fund and asset classes.

Analyze fundamental sector, industry and company data including but not limited to, examination of financial, business, and competitive factors for the assigned portfolio.

Oversee and direct the work of the assigned analyst team including, but not limited to, the research process, professional development and communication with the portfolio management team.

Develop and implement strategy for the assigned portfolio(s).

Maintain current knowledge of domestic equity markets and trends to assist in development and implementation of overall domestic equity strategy. Periodically advise STRS Ohio investment staff regarding key news and developments within assigned portfolio including written and verbal recap presentations.

Review, analyze, and comment on investment recommendations prepared by other members of Domestic Equity.

Summary of Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field required.

Master's degree in business administration or accounting preferred.

Eight or more years’ experience in analytical securities research position required.

Successful completion of Chartered Financial Analyst Program (CFA) strongly recommended. Ten plus years’ experience may substitute for the CFA.

Ability to research and analyze data and make valid conclusions. Knowledge of relevant analytical software preferred.

Thorough understanding of process, philosophy, equity portfolio construction and risk management are required.

Superior oral and written communication skills required.

Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with internal and external contacts required.

Excellent organizational skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail required.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment while meeting deadlines with minimal direct supervision required.
