Fractional Workday HCM Architect – Confidential Community Platform
About the Company (Confidential)
Our client operates a trusted neighborhood networking platform used by over 100 million users across thousands of communities. It’s where neighbors connect, share trusted local updates, organize events, and receive real-time safety alerts—it truly makes every neighborhood feel like.
As the organization scales, we seek an expert to lead the Workday HCM ecosystem architecture, ensuring the HR backbone aligns with rapid growth, compliance needs, and operational agility—delivered remotely on a fractional basis.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Fractional Workday HCM Architect to design, optimize, and govern the Workday Human Capital Management environment. You'll work remotely with occasional onsite alignment (if needed), partnering across HR, Finance, IT, and Operations to architect solutions that support global operations with privacy, scalability, and seamless integrations.
Key Responsibilities
Architect Workday HCM Strategy: Define the Workday HCM solution, including Core HCM, Absence, Payroll, Benefits, Talent, and Performance modules. Ensure the ecosystem supports scalability, localization, and future releases.
Integrate Systems and Workflows: Design integrations between Workday and the platform’s existing systems (e.g., payroll providers, CRM, SSO, recruitment ATS, LMS). Build secure, scalable connectors and data flows.
Optimize HCM Processes: Configure business processes (hire-to-retire, performance reviews, time tracking) to reflect best practices and global compliance. Enhance automation where possible.
Governance & Security: Establish roles, permissions, audit policies, and data segregation. Ensure alignment with privacy standards—and maintain compliance for global data handling.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with HR leaders, IT, Finance, and business teams to gather functional requirements and translate them into technical Workday configurations and integrations.
Fractional Engagement Delivery: Operate as a contract-level architect with clear deliverables, milestones, and documentation. Lead technical workshops, design sessions, and provide governance frameworks remotely.
Requirements
Requirements
Proven Expertise in Workday HCM: 7+ years in architecting or configuring Workday HCM modules for fast-growing technology companies; preferably with global employee populations and multi-module deployments.
Integration Proficiency: Experience integrating Workday with external systems using REST APIs, Workday Studio, Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), Web Services, middleware platforms, or custom-coded integrations.
Global Compliance & Governance Acumen: Strong knowledge of role-based security, data privacy best practices, and experience implementing HRIS governance for compliance.
Stakeholder Management & Consulting: Excellent communication and consulting skills. You will coach HR and business teams, articulate technical solutions clearly, and drive consensus.
Fractional / Remote Consulting Experience: Demonstrated ability to function autonomously in a part-time, fractional architect role with strong deliverable management and time discipline.
Why This Role Matters
Your Workday architecture will be the backbone of human capital operations and strategic HR capability—empowering the platform to grow efficiently, onboard new markets, and scale responsibly. Working with a mission that strengthens neighborhood connections, your contributions will help the business invest in its people, maintain trust, and support seamless, compliant growth.
Note: This is a remote-first, fractional (part-time) contractor role for a confidential client operating a hyperlocal community platform. Company-specific details are withheld and will be shared with candidates during the interview process.
