Description
The Academic Advisor, College Credit Plus (CCP), provides advising to CCP students, supporting their academic goals in alignment with Clark State College’s mission, vision, and core values. This role emphasizes facilitating College and community referrals to promote student retention and completion. The Advisor cultivates relationships with prospective students, parents, and high school counselors within the College’s service district. Collaborating closely with the Director, Early College Programs, the advisor disseminates State of Ohio rules and regulations related to CCP to advising staff, students, and parents. This position represents Clark State College at CCP information sessions and various CCP events held at high schools. Travel to and from high schools is required for the position for CCP information sessions and other CCP activities.
Shift: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm. Evenings and weekends, as needed.
Location: Springfield Location
This position is eligible for limited telecommuting opportunity on Fridays, with approval. This is subject to change per College needs.
Orients new students to the institutional policies and procedures for the College, CCP, and registration processes.
Manages College Credit Plus email inbox.
Works with the appropriate academic schools to provide advising for academic program requirements and course scheduling.
Creates an academic plan for each advisee and tracks the student’s progress. Communicates with students regarding any academic progress.
Works in association with other departments to assist students in the examination of their career and educational goals.
Counsels prospective students and families regarding the general college search process, aspects of college life, admissions process, and career exploration.
Collaborates with the Director, Early College Programs to schedule coverage for CCP information sessions.
Clarifies institutional policies and procedures with students.
Coordinates CCP orientation content, delivery formats, and presentation of material at Clark State and high school partners.
Coordinates rosters for in-house CCP courses to ensure registration with the Director, Early College Programs.
Collaborates with admissions to develop recruiting efforts for CCP.
All other duties assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience
Six months to two years of similar or related experience
Education
A Bachelor's degree.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Requires travel to multiple campus locations; a valid driver's license and/or dependable transportation is required.

Physical Requirements
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
