This is an ongoing internship located in Columbus, OH. The selected candidate will ideally be able to work throughout the school year and summer, for an average of 20 hours per week or less (with flexibility during the school semesters given class schedule and course load).

The pay rate for a college intern is based upon the students' academic status:

Undergraduate student rate of pay - $16.93 per hour

Graduate student rate of pay - $20.59 per hour

Background:

A background check including BCI fingerprint check will be required on all selected applicants

What You'll Do

Ohio Department of Public Safety – Homeland Security

Report in location: 1970 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223

Work Days and hours would vary between: Monday - Friday 8\:00 am – 5\:00 pm depending on student’s schedule.

Geospatial Studies

Homeland Security

Intelligence Studies

Security Management

Job duties:

Assisting in collecting, cleaning, and organizing critical infrastructure data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with OCIDS standards.

Update and maintain GIS datasets and related documentation, utilizing the ArcGIS Online platform.

Support data quality assurance efforts by reviewing records for errors, duplicates, or inconsistencies, and coordinating corrections with project team members.

Remote meetings and field visits with county representatives to present/demonstrate the capabilities of OCIDS.

Additional homeland security related tasks as assigned.

Employment Requirements (all must be verified upon hire)

To be eligible for an internship opportunity at the Ohio Department of Public Safety, an applicant must:

Be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university.

Be in good standing with the college/university.

Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0.

Be enrolled in at least one course.

Be pursuing a degree or finishing a degree.
