Job Description
This is a full-time position (a part-time position of 30 hours per week could be considered). The person who fills this position is responsible for fulfilling the duties listed below. This position has no supervisory duties. Employee is required to work in-person Tuesday and Thursday at the TSA office located in Reston, VA – no exceptions; Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are remote workdays. Relocation assistance is not provided.
Responsibilities:
Prepare assets, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information
Issue payments
Maintain accounting controls
Produce error-free accounting reports
Prepare financial statements according to schedule
Assist with the annual budgeting process
Manage internal and external audits to ensure compliance
Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Research and stay current on accounting issues and trends
Requirements – apply only if these requirements are met:
Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in related field
At least five years experience in the non-profit accounting field
Intermediate understanding of accounting and reporting standards
Experience with creating financial statements
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
Experience with accounting software
Experience working at a small non-profit
Accuracy and attention to detail
Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
This position includes basic HR responsibilities such as:
Maintain and update employee records and HR database
Serve as a point of contact for employee queries and concern
Interpret, assist, and inform employees regarding leave management, benefit administration, and HR procedures and policies within the specified guidelines
Review, process, and verify new hire and retirement documentation for all employees
Maintain and update personnel records
TSA offers:
Collaborative work environment of twelve employees (most long term)
Hybrid work schedule – Required: Tuesday and Thursday in-person at the TSA office located in Reston, VA; Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are remote workdays
Salary range: $90,000 - $110,000 (for full-time, 40 hours/week position)
