Job Title: Arena & Ice Operations Technician (Facility & Ice Specialist)

Organization: Sheboygan Blue Line Association, Inc.

Location: Sheboygan Lakers Ice Center, 1202 S. Wildwood Ave, Sheboygan, WI 53081

Reports To: General Manager

Status: Full-Time

Compensation & Benefits: $50,000 – $55,000 annually (commensurate with experience) and performance incentives.

Position Overview

The Sheboygan Lakers Ice Center is the heart of hockey, figure skating, and community events in Sheboygan and we are looking for a skilled and passionate Arena & Ice Operations Technician to keep it running at its very best.

This hands-on role combines the art of professional ice-making with the craft of facility maintenance and customer service. From creating world-class ice surfaces to keeping the facility safe, efficient, and welcoming, this position is critical to ensuring that every athlete, family, and visitor has first-class experience.

Key Responsibilities

Ice & Arena Operations

Oversee full ice installation and seasonal maintenance, including freezing floors, painting base layers, logos, and building ice sheet thickness.

Maintain ice to professional standards, resurfacing, edging, repairing, and monitoring depth, temperature, and humidity.

Safely operate and maintain Zamboni and ice edger equipment.

Set up ice surfaces for practices, games, figure skating, tournaments, and special events.

Maintain spectator netting, dasher boards, hockey glass, and related safety features.

Facility Maintenance & Repairs

Perform preventative maintenance and general upkeep of the facility, including painting, drywall, minor plumbing, and electrical work.

Conduct repairs and installations related to doors, hand railings, fences, stairs, patios, and cabinetry.

Oversee landscaping, lawn care, rain gutter and siding maintenance, and exterior repairs.

Ensure custodial and housekeeping standards are met for cleanliness and safety.

Leadership & Customer Service

Provide excellent customer service to tenants, teams, figure skaters, renters, and guests.

Serve as point of contact for urgent facility issues and respond to emergencies.

Build strong relationships with community stakeholders, contractors, and suppliers.

Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in ice rink operations and ice-making.

Knowledge of building systems, safety procedures, and general facility operations.

Strong leadership and team management skills (staff and volunteers).

Ability to read technical documents, floor plans, safety manuals, and follow detailed procedures.

Excellent problem-solving, time management, and organizational abilities.

Skilled in customer service with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Basic first aid and emergency response knowledge preferred.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Ability to stand, walk, and work on your feet for extended periods.

Willingness to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
