Crest Acura is a well-established automotive dealership committed to providing exceptional service and a wide range of quality vehicles to our customers. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controller to oversee our financial operations and ensure the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of our dealership’s accounting processes. The Controller will provide strategic direction and leadership in the planning, development, management, control, and reporting of the financial operations and activities of the Dealership. Coordinate the development, preparation, and submission of a variety of financial reports that summarize the Dealership’s costs and financial position in a timely, accurate manner and in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Responsibilities:

Interact with senior management to develop, coordinate and administer an adequate plan for the control of operations, including profit planning, sales forecasts, expense budgets, accounts receivable, cost standards and saving opportunities, and capital investing by establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls.

Maintain bank accounts and reconcile monthly bank statements to balance with the dealership.

Administer the 401k account. Enter data from reports for the employee 401k withholdings for the monthly funding and for end of year totals.

Review and or reconcile schedules and general ledger month-end and year-end financial reports and tax reporting documents for internal and external distribution as required.

Prepare a variety of reports that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings. This includes month and year-end financial statements. Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.

Prepare and files sales tax.

Payoff vehicles at bank when sold.

Closeout car deals to accounting worksheet for posting sale.

Calculate monthly bonuses.

Prepare tax audit packages and serve as a liaison with outside auditors and assist with annual audit and perform miscellaneous job-related duties as requested.

Train, direct and coordinate activities of accounting staff to ensure timely and accurate performance of accounting office activities. Motivate employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.

Maintain positive relationships with banks and other financial institutions and keep abreast of automotive policies and procedures, current developments in accounting and auditing professions, and changes in local, state, and federal laws, as applicable.

Process weekly payroll including compiling time sheets and reviewing the information for completeness and accuracy. Contact managers for any missed time sheets or to resolve time entry errors. Input weekly payroll information including hours, rates, new employee information, and benefit enrollment changes/corrections. Compile payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, insurance and 401(k) deductions.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field required.

Five years progressive, hands-on experience in financial and risk management required, at least three of which include supervision of subordinate staff.

Proficiency in general accounting functions including monthly, quarterly, year-end closing, preparation of general ledger tax reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections.

Computer proficiency including word processing, excel, spreadsheets, and generating reports using standard software applications.

Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision making skills.

Ability to compile, analyze, interpret, and present complex annual financial reports, statements, and/or projections.

Skill in business and financial planning.

Ability to design and implement integrated financial control systems, policies, and procedures.

Ability to comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

Excellence in interpersonal and communication skills, including writing and making effective presentations to internal and external top management officials.

Strong organizational skills including the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Automotive dealership experience preferred
