Salary Range:

$90,000 to $140,000 (based on experience).

What You’ll Do:

George Washington Toma has an immediate need for an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function of a successful appliance retailer. This is an exciting opportunity to further develop an existing team and help scale the company through the next phase of growth. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Controller will be responsible for all day-to-day operations of the accounting function and will be a highly visible cross-functional partner to senior team members.

Lead and develop all accounting capabilities including general ledger optimization, cash management, revenue/accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets and inventory.

Monitor and control cash balances, cash forecasts, receipts, disbursements, the protection of cash and compliance.

Oversee monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion.

Oversee end-to-end accounts payable – trade and non-trade.

Lead and oversee the annual financial review process.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings including sales taxes.

Measuring actual performance against budgets and forecasts.

Ensure that proper internal controls are in place, enforced, and reviewed periodically for conformance to accounting and financial best practices, standards and applicable regulations.

Provide expertise on financial reporting, tax, and compliance matters.

Maintain banking relationships with lenders, insurance brokers, and external auditors.

What We’re Looking For:

Retail & Distribution Experience is a plus!

5+ prior Assistant Controller or Senior Accountant experience required, retail experience a plus.

Exceptional problem-solving ability with strong decision-making skills.

Strong GAAP, analytical, and financial reporting technical skills.

Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

A skillset of strong financial reporting and solid accounting principles.

Proven record of success within mid-sized, fast growing entrepreneurial environments.

Strong people leadership competencies as well as an ability to coach, mentor and develop the accounting team.
