Position: Systems Technician

Location: Ohio History Center, Columbus, OH

Status: Full Time, permanent

Compensation: $25.00 per hour

Summary:

Systems Technician provides technical support for all Ohio History Connection (OHC) technology users (including staff, volunteers and interns) through the User Services Department. Systems Technician works collaboratively with other divisions and team members to ensure technology systems and equipment meet the needs of the organization.

Essential Functions

Responsible for the evaluation, deployment, and maintenance of client system hardware and software as well as any associated upgrades, at the Ohio History Center and OHC-managed sites around the state.

Manages user system network accounts, including Exchange accounts and data.

Repairs user equipment, via vendor support contracts where applicable.

Installs, debugs and resolves issues related to software applications

Maintains inventory of hardware and software, documenting and updating inventory records

Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures to protect client system hardware and software from unauthorized access and cyber threats.

Debugs and provides support for Microsoft Office Products, including Teams, OneDrive, Word, Excel and Access, and provides guidance to end users in how to use these applications.

Other duties as assigned. Required Education & Experience:

Associates degree in computer sciences or similar field preferred or equivalent of education, technical certifications, and/or related professional work experience in hands-on technical support Desired Skills & Experience

Technical skills necessary to install and maintain computer hardware, software and peripherals.

Thorough knowledge of the MS Office Suite and MS Windows operating systems.

Familiarity with Office 365 or MS PowerShell preferred

Familiarity with networking concepts including VLANs, switching, and firewalls.

Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory including user account management and GPOs.

Ability to diagnose and correct basic network problems.

Comfortable communicating with staff and the public. Required Competencies
