About the Role:
At #1 In Home Care, quality compassionate at home care is our specialty. Currently, we are seeking FT, PT, and PRN Direct Service Workers (DSWs) who can work night and weekend shifts to play a vital role in providing compassionate and personalized support to our clients in the Greater New Orleans, Saint John the Baptist, and the Greater Saint Tammany Parishes. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life of clients by assisting with daily living activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their safety and well-being. The DSW will help build trusting relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs, and collaborating with healthcare professionals and family members to deliver a comprehensive care plan. Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
MUST pass background checks and drug screenings as required.
Must be able to read, interpret and perform client service plan requirements.
Basic knowledge of personal care and safety procedures.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in direct care or social services.
Certification in CPR and First Aid.
CNA licensure highly preferred.
Ability to work with individuals that have Dementia/Sundowning.
Training or coursework related to healthcare, social work, or human services is a plus.
Able to work in pet friendly environments (if needed).
Familiarity with local community resources and support services.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients' social and mental well-being.
Monitor and document clients' health status and report any changes or concerns to supervisors or healthcare providers.
Support clients in participating in community activities and accessing necessary services.
Perform housekeeping duties to help maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment for clients by following established protocols and safety guidelines.
Skills:
The required skills such as effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal abilities are essential fin this position. Attention to detail and observational skills are used daily to monitor clients' health and safety, enabling timely reporting of any concerns. Time management and organizational skills help in efficiently balancing multiple client needs and documentation requirements. Preferred skills like CPR and First Aid certification enhance the worker’s ability to respond promptly to emergencies, ensuring client safety. Additionally, knowledge of community resources improves service delivery by facilitating better communication and access to support systems.
