Description:

Commissioning & Start-Up Lead Major Capital Programme

Germany Long-Term Contract

ENG Bauen is proud to be partnering with a global industrial organisation to deliver a multi-year, capital-intensive programme focused on advanced materials and decarbonisation technologies.

We are currently seeking a Commissioning & Start-Up Lead to join the project execution team during the final construction and early operational phases of a complex new processing facility located in Western Germany.

This is a high-profile role for an experienced CSU professional who can take ownership of commissioning delivery strategy, from utility readiness and dry commissioning through to final start-up and handover. The ideal candidate will be deeply experienced in capital project commissioning in chemical, petrochemical, or advanced manufacturing environments, with a strong understanding of operational safety and interface coordination.

You will work closely with global and local stakeholders, including R&D teams, site operations, and technical vendors, while building and leading a dedicated CSU team onsite. German language fluency is essential, given the role’s interaction with plant personnel, field technicians, and local authorities.

This role offers a long-term contract running through 2027 and presents a fantastic opportunity to shape operational readiness for one of the industry’s most innovative recycling projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development and execution of the full CSU strategy and plan, including scope, scheduling, resource planning, and budgeting

Oversee field commissioning activities including dry runs, water runs, SAT, PSSR, and system handovers

Approve and manage vendor validation protocols and ensure integration with site procedures

Coordinate safety system commissioning and support site safety walkthroughs

Deliver structured CSU reporting and maintain alignment with project KPIs and operational goals

Prepare and manage workforce training and readiness plans

Interface with cross-functional stakeholders across construction, operations, maintenance, and R&D

Provide leadership to the CSU site team, including shift leaders, technicians, and operators

Present a 60-day onboarding execution plan and adjust based on live project needs

Ideal Candidate:

20+ years of commissioning and start-up experience within the chemical, petrochemical, or industrial processing sectors

Proven success in managing large-scale CSU efforts across greenfield or brownfield capital projects

Fluent or strong working knowledge of German (essential for site coordination and safety protocols)

Strong leadership presence and ability to operate in both strategic planning and hands-on execution

Deep understanding of risk management, utility readiness, process safety, and systems turnover

Comfortable working in a matrix environment with global reporting lines

Proficiency in CSU databases, digital commissioning tools, and structured handover systems

If you are an experienced CSU professional and would like to learn more, please don’t hesitate to get in touch or apply for this opportunity.
