Position Summary
The Renaissance Computing Institute ( RENCI ) at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill is seeking a Research Project Coordinator to report to its Research Project Management Office ( RPMO ). This position will be responsible for coordinating one or more research and team science projects and provide support for RENCI outreach and engagement. Incumbent will work as part of highly collaborative project team(s), and will: Provide project coordination, including planning, internal communications, milestone tracking, problem identification and solving, as well as information gathering and report drafting. Assist with budget tracking, scheduling and reporting. Ensure effective use of selected project management tool/s. Manage day-to-day operations for assigned projects, including data-entry, scheduling and running meetings, taking notes, capturing action items and decisions, communicating with all teams, maintaining project boards and follow up. Organize meetings, create agendas, take notes, and capture action items/decisions during meetings Manage program tasks in Monday.com and build/update automations as needed Actively track tasks across the project Produce program reports Recognize areas for internal improvement and develop plans for implementing updated or new processes and methods to facilitate desired project outcomes. Incumbent should be a highly motivated, detail-oriented team player, and demonstrated problem solver with a proven ability to make decisions. Incumbent should have demonstrated project coordination experience. As a member of the RPMO, the incumbent will also work with teammates on RENCI internal projects and activities, identify and resolve problems, and contribute to internal process improvement.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience
The incumbent must have the ability to perform the following duties: Project planning and coordination: Manage day to day business operations of a project. Comprehend, develop, and adhere to project budgets Implement defined program management strategy; Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously; Track tasks, and ensure timely progress of the project through completion; Gather data and draft reports as needed; Collaborate with other teams as needed; Outreach and Communication: Available for occasional travel related to assigned project(s); Engage project stakeholders to facilitate project outcomes; Edit and analyze informational materials or content; Interpersonal: Establish and maintain a variety of positive and constructive working relationships. Understand internal workings of the department relative to external expectations of clients and stakeholders. Technical: Use and incorporate various hardware and software packages in support of project outcomes. Manage program tasks in Monday.com and build/update automations as needed. Familiarity with a range of project management tools, particularly online tools including Monday.com and/or Jira Familiarity with a range of teleconference and other communication tools, particularly online tools including Zoom and Slack; Familiarity with general office productivity tools, such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel; Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides; Smartsheet’s.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience
Prefer three years’ experience in project management and/or program coordination and organization. PMP Certification is a plus. Experience with federally funded projects is a plus. Experience using project management skills and tools in an academic setting and/or a background in education is a plus.
