Job Description
Residential Material Estimator
Wausau, WI Full-time Competitive Pay & Benefits
About Us
At Wausau Homes, we help builders deliver dream homes—on time, on budget, and to exacting standards. Our Materials team is the backbone of that promise, ensuring every home gets the right parts and finishes when they’re needed.
About the Role
We’re looking for a detail-driven, construction-savvy professional who knows the ins and outs of residential finish materials. If you can calculate siding quantities in your sleep, spot a blueprint error from across the table, and speak the language of builders and installers, you might be exactly who we need.
In this role, you’ll:
Support builders by handling material estimates, warranty inquiries, and shortage claims
Create precise material orders for interior and exterior finishes using our ERP system
Troubleshoot issues and work directly with builders, vendors, and our internal teams
Review blueprints and translate them into accurate, cost-effective material lists
What We’re Looking For
Solid construction knowledge—especially finish materials (doors, trim, cabinetry, siding, etc.)
Ability to read and understand blueprints
Experience with material estimating in residential construction
Strong problem-solving skills and a knack for keeping projects on track
Bonus points if you’ve installed finish materials yourself—hands-on experience goes a long way here!
Qualifications
Associate degree or 2–5 years’ experience in estimating, construction materials, or a related role
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP systems
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Why You’ll Love It Here
Be part of a company that values accuracy, craftsmanship, and relationships
Work with a team who understands construction from the ground up
Competitive pay, benefits, and a positive work environment
But beyond the tasks, you’ll be joining a workplace that prioritizes:
Belonging – We create safe, open forums where everyone’s voice matters.
Connection – Strong relationships across our teams and organization are the foundation of our success.
Engagement – Through events, activities, and recognition, we keep our culture vibrant and inclusive.
Well-being – Your health and personal growth matter here—because we care.
Development – We celebrate success, support professional development, and encourage you to pursue your dreams.
If you have the construction expertise and attention to detail we’re looking for, we want to hear from you.
