JOB TITLE: CNC Machinist
DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing
REPORTING TO: Director of Maintenance

SUMMARY:
The Piasecki Aircraft Corporation CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines to produce precision metal parts, ensuring all parts meet specified requirements and quality standards. The role includes interpreting technical blueprints, programming CNC machines, performing regular maintenance, and collaborating with engineering teams to support R&D and production projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate and set up CNC machines to produce precision metal parts for aerospace applications.
Program CNC machines by inputting design specifications and coding HAAS systems for single run operations.
Operate and maintain Bridgeport II milling machines and LeBlond lathes for manual machining tasks.
Interpret technical blueprints, drawings, and GD&T specifications to understand requirements of detail parts.
Provide machining support for both R&D prototype projects and production manufacturing.
Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and materials onto machines.
Adjust machine settings to optimize efficiency while maintaining quality and tolerances.
Measure and examine completed parts to verify conformance using precision tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.).
Conduct preventative maintenance and perform troubleshooting on CNC and manual machines.
Assist in Additive Manufacturing (3D printing) tasks; experience with Stratasys or FormLabs systems is a strong plus.
Maintain accurate records of processes, tool usage, and production output.
Adhere to safety protocols and ensure a clean, organized work environment.
Collaborate with engineers, designers, and quality control teams to refine machining processes and support custom jobs.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
Strong proficiency with CNC programming and operation, including HAAS coding for single runs.
Experience with Bridgeport II mills and LeBlond lathes.
Familiarity with Additive Manufacturing / 3D printing technologies (Stratasys or FormLabs preferred).
High level of manual dexterity, precision, and mechanical aptitude.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T standards.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of precision measuring instruments and aerospace quality control procedures.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS / CLEARANCES:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Certification or associate degree in CNC machining, manufacturing technology, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a CNC Machinist, ideally in the aerospace industry.
Ability to obtain and maintain any required clearances if applicable.
