Shifts will change to a "3 on/3off" Rotation

Operators work on a 3-day schedule, with 3 days off

Shifts rotate every month 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am

We are hiring for the following operator positions:

Applicant skills will be assessed, and applicants will be routed to the position best suited to the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Requests for preferred positions cannot be guaranteed.

FORKLIFT EXPERIENCE IS A PLUS!

Production Operator, Front:

Front-End Operators rotate positions approximately every hour among 3 positions listed below:

Lay Up Operator Duties: (Requires: Standing, lifting, bending)

Straighten and guide veneer as it travels down conveyor and hits lay-up stop

Visually inspect quality of veneer

Remove broken sheets of veneer and place on reject cart

Replace broken veneer with quality sheets from staged bundle cart

Ensure quality of layup, veneer quality and billet construction per menu requirements

Operate layup controls

Keep line free of broken veneer

Roll glue on veneer using paint type roller where glue is missing.

Feeder Operator: (Requires: Sitting, standing, climbing, bending & lifting sheets of veneer)

Operate feeder controls to ensure steady flow of veneer

Monitor line and veneer as it is fed onto the line.

Verify bins contain proper grade of veneer

Set and maintain LVL line controls

Staple glue card to veneer

Unclog jams in feeder bins

Straighten veneer sheets

Lay Up Assistant Operator (Requires: Standing, lifting, bending)

Assist layup operator monitoring line

Unclog jams – Jams may include removing multiple sheets of veneer at the same time.

Sort and stack veneer sheet rejects onto cart

Pull defective sheets of veneer off the line and carry to cart

Remove and replace defective veneer face sheets

Inspect veneer for defects; remove sheets out of spec.

Housekeeping: Use air hose to blow out debris and dust from underline.

Maintain good housekeeping; sweep, dump trash, and use air wand to blow out debris and dust from under line. Sweep floor using push broom.

Ability to continuously lift, climb, stoop, reach, stand is essential for all positions. Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical is required for all positions.

Product Operators, Back:

Back-end product operators finish the product and prepare for shipping:

Cut the product to customer specifications (measuring skills needed),

Manage the flow of finished and unfinished products (excellent communication skills and teamwork needed),

Inspect the product for defects, reporting any defective products, and ensuring that no defective products are sent to the customer (attention to detail needed),

Move the product using an overhead crane, forklift, side-lift and other heavy machinery (commitment to safety needed),

Ensure the product is properly labeled (attention to detail needed), and

Ensure that all products are carefully and neatly packaged, maintaining a high standard of presentation to create the best possible impression for the customer.

Product operators consist of the following positions:

Sawyer:

The Sawyer is responsible for operating cutting equipment, inspecting billets, and ensuring high-quality output while adhering to safety protocols, as well as a variety of other duties.

Ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

An unwavering commitment to following all safety protocols

Ability to coordinate and direct the movement of product from three production lines into one product stream (excellent communication skills and systems thinking are required).

Ability to create and maintain accurate and detailed records (integrity, attention to detail),

Demonstrated physical ability to move billets manually when necessary (ability to lift at least 50 pounds without assistance)

Stacker:

Communicates with the sawyer via hand signals and other communication methods to ensure the safe and efficient flow of materials. Responsible for the safe operation of all machinery, and ensuring all product is properly tagged/labeled, as well as a variety of other duties.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

Ability to safely and efficiently operate controls (aptitude for the safe operation of manufacturing equipment)

Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage the flow of materials (systems thinker with a holistic cause-and-effect view of the production process)

Ability to properly tag all inventory with a customer-focused attention to detail

Cut to Length (CTL):

The CTL operator is responsible for the safe operation of the tri-state saw and radial arm saw and accurately cutting boards to length according to stated specifications, while balancing and prioritizing cut-to-length orders with cutting lab samples and other business needs, as well as a variety of other duties.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

An unwavering commitment to following all safety protocols

Ability to work independently and safely operate all required machinery, saws, forklift, and side-lift with situational awareness (forklift and heavy machinery aptitude)

Ability to accurately identify product to be worked (product knowledge, attention to detail)

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks based upon established protocols and changing production needs (systems thinker with a holistic cause-and-effect view of the production process)

Reclaim:

The reclaim operator is responsible for reclaiming defective product, identifying the nature and location of the defect and determining if the rejected board will be cut to length or ripped to a usable size. Ensures effective communication of the defect to relevant team members, as well as the transfer of the billet number and other relevant information from the billet to the defective board for accurate tracking, as well as a variety of other duties.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

Ability to accurately identify a variety of defects and understand the best course of treatment to salvage the product, if possible (integrity, product knowledge, attention to detail),

A commitment to following tracking procedures to accurately track inventory through the production and post-production process (integrity, attention to detail),

Excellent communication skills and a teamwork mindset (systems thinker with a holistic cause-and-effect view of the production process)

Packager:

The packager makes certain the customer receives a defect-free, finished product and ensures all products are carefully and neatly packaged, maintaining a high standard of presentation to create the best possible impression for the customer. Safely operates the saw and utilizes exacting measuring skills to cut the product within specifications before wrapping and stapling wrapper for presentation and transport, as well as a variety of other duties.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

An unwavering commitment to following all safety protocols

Ability to accurately measure and cut product to ensure usable end product for the consumer. (attention to detail)

Ability to safely operate the saw, pneumatic staple gun, and performing ongoing housekeeping to maintain a safe work environment. (aptitude for safe operation of tools and manufacturing equipment)

Commitment to sending a defect-free, well-presented product to the customer. (integrity, pride in work)

Required PPE: Minimum of hardhat, gloves (type depends on task), safety glasses, above the ankle steel-toed boots, and ear plugs. Additional PPE is required for certain tasks as prescribed in our safety trainings and documentation.

Entry level compensation: $18.17 per hour plus shift differential when applicable during the work trial. Pay increases to $21.00 per hour upon hire

Temporary personnel are not eligible for benefits and are employees of the contracted personnel agency. Benefits available to eligible PWT employees the month following hire.
