Job Description

Union Technologies is reindustrializing America’s defense manufacturing base with a first-of-its-kind Factories-as-a-Stockpile™ model, integrating advanced robotics, manufacturing, and software into sovereign factory systems at scale. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, UNION is dedicated to restoring America’s industrial strength and guaranteeing deterrence for the century ahead.

We recently emerged from stealth with $50M in funding led by top-tier venture investors and strategic partners. Read more in our Press ReleaseOverview

Own the last mile of OT integrations. You’ll make sure every vendor machine is correctly programmed to use Union standards, close FAT/SAT punch lists, and harden our PLC/SCADA/MES stack to CMMC requirements. This role is integration and security first (not greenfield PLC programming).

Responsibilities

Enforce UNION standards: Review vendor logic for Union compliance; refactor Ladder/ST/AOIs when vendors fall short and contribute fixes to shared libraries.

FAT/SAT closer: Author test plans, run them on-site, maintain the punch list, and drive every item to closure with evidence (logs, screenshots, configs).

Security execution: Implement and document controls aligned to CMMC 2.0 / NIST 800-171 in OT (accounts/roles, segmentation, CIP Security, OPC UA certs/policies, logging, backup/restore, patching).

Hands-on debugging: Triage EtherNet/IP/OPC UA issues, timing/data-model mismatches, and network problems using Wireshark, PLC/SCADA diagnostics, and protocol analyzers.

Software-grade practices in OT: Use Git, code reviews, CI, and automated tests (incl. virtual PLCs/digital twins) for all software artifacts.

Cross-functional glue: Partner with software engineers to map tags/nodesets, align schemas with MES, and close integration gaps on new equipment.

Vendor management: Train integrators on Union standards; review deliverables and sign off only when spec-compliant.

Requirements

Dual skill set: Proven PLC/SCADA integration experience and formal software engineering practices (structured design, testing, version control).

Platforms & protocols: Strong with Rockwell ControlLogix/Studio 5000 (AOIs, Ladder/ST); Siemens/TIA a plus; OPC UA (security, nodesets), EtherNet/IP, industrial networking (VLANs, firewalls).

Coding: Fluency in Go, Rust, or Python for test harnesses, adapters, and tooling; solid Git/CI workflows.

Test rigor: Experience with simulation/virtual PLCs and automated verification of integrations.

On-site execution: Track record running FAT/SAT and burning down punch lists with crisp documentation.

Communication: Clear specs, clean diffs, disciplined change control (MOC).

Travel: Up to ~25% for vendor sites

Bonus Qualifications

Authored Rockwell AOIs at scale; created OPC UA nodesets; contributions to OPC UA/CIP stacks.

Ignition (or similar) SCADA: tag providers, UDTs, scripting, security realms.

MQTT/Kafka edge patterns; store-and-forward.Join the mission. We'll handle the move.

Exceptional talent shouldn't be bound by geography. If you're ready to relocate to Dallas, TX and join us in reindustrializing America’s defense backbone, we'll make it easy—and for those who move quickly, additional incentives may be available.

Compensation Range: $110K - $194K
