Job Description:

The Flight Data Analyst will serve as part of the Flight Safety Team. This includes, but is not limited to, the development of algorithms within FDAP (Flight Data Analysis Program), monitoring mitigations about SMS (Safety Assurance), and communication of information to the appropriate SWA departments. Emphasis will be on support of external Customers and the exploration of Flight Data analyses beyond the usual safety application to includes all data sources available to the Flight Safety Team.

Responsibilities

Develop algorithms to extract data from all data sources available to FDAP

Perform FDAP event review and assist with FAA and NTSB investigations

Provide data trends and analyses to support the Safety Management System

Promote safety awareness by developing communication and education content for department publications

Brief FDAP data trends and study's to Flight Operations leadership

Develop flight efficiency analyses to support multiple initiatives across Southwest

Assist other Flight Operation teams with integrated data analysis

Present at conferences and other industry meetings

Provide friendly service to and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external Customers

May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Intermediate knowledge of PC databases

Intermediate knowledge of commercial airline operations

Intermediate knowledge in airspace structure and navigation procedures

Skilled in the use of analysis software tools like Tableau, and Alteryx

Skilled in written and verbal communication

Ability to work both independently and as a member of a Team

Ability to be self-motivated, utilize strong analytical skills with investigative problem solving techniques

Ability to solve complex problems, comply with tight deadlines, and accomplish work with little direction or supervision Education

Required: High School Diploma or GED Experience

Intermediate level experience, fully functioning broad knowledge in:

Data analysis

Algorithm development

Creating data visualizations and dashboards

Prior work in Flight Operation organizations or aviation and safety Licensing/Certification

N/A Physical Abilities

Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time

Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job Other Qualifications

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines

Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

Must be at least 18 years of age

Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Must meet confidentially expectations as to confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company information

Pay & Benefits

Competitive market salary from $78,850 - $87,600 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
