Scope of Position:

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is committed to preparing graduate medical education learners for successful, fulfilling careers in medicine. The Director for Learner Development in Graduate Medical Education (GME) will facilitate GME learner skill acquisition necessary for the smooth transition from learner to independent practitioner, as well as skills that support successful, long-term integration into faculty positions or private clinical practice settings. This position will have institutional responsibility for ensuring regulatory compliance with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) institutional requirements pertinent to the scope of the position.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education, the Director for Learner Development in Graduate Medical Education: develops, implements, oversees and tracks outcomes for innovative GME education programs designed to better prepare learners for their medical careers; strategizes educational development priorities which align with institutional and accreditation standards; collaborates with college of medicine departments and GME programs to promote engagement in the GME educational activities; develops coaching strategies related to lifelong learning, effective teamwork, and true leadership skills. This position will also support the leadership development of GME program directors, associate program directors, and assistant program directors, while collaborating with GME colleagues to develop program administrators.

Minimum Education Required:

Bachelor’s degree in health-related specialty or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. MBA, MHA preferred.

Minimum Experience Requirements: 4 years of relevant experience required; experience in program planning and administration in primary clinical learning environments (PCLE) preferred; Clinical experience (RN/BSN) desired; considerable experience and knowledge of medical education and fellowship training program accreditation requirements and guidelines preferred; computer with knowledge of Microsoft Office; teaching knowledge of quality improvement methodologies desired. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
