Office of Family Assistance
The Office of Family Assistance (OFA) oversees cash and food assistance programs, work support programs for recipients of cash and food assistance, adult protective services, and refugee programs. Learn more about the office by visiting the Office of Family Assistance webpage.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and guidance to county (and/or designated agency) APS program staff by researching, analyzing, revising policies and procedures, and training to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and laws.
Providing technical assistance to county APS programs regarding compliance with mandates and best practice.
Training counties on APS regulations, laws, and rules; as well as providing information on topics related to APS practice.
Writing rules that counties will use to implement laws and regulations.
Participating in the APS quality assurance process by reading cases, reviewing agency statistics and other information, and meeting with counties to discuss findings and corrective action.
Attending meetings with ODJFS and OFA offices, counties, other state agencies, and advocacy groups regarding APS.
Leading projects, and carrying out duties related to those projects, as directed by leadership.
Schedule: Full-time
Hours: Standard workdays are Monday through Friday. Hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Travel: Travel required, as needed. Must provide own transportation or, in order to operate a state vehicle, you must have a valid driver's license.

The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following:
OPTION 1:
Completion of graduate course coursework in social or behavioral science, health services public administration, public policy management or comparable field;
AND 24 mos. exp. in researching, developing or implementing policies related to social services, health services, public policy or comparable field;
AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in use of computer hardware & software used for spreadsheets, statistical analysis, graphics presentation & word processing.
OR OPTION 2:
Completion of undergraduate core program in social or behavioral science, health services public administration, public policy management or comparable field;
AND 36 mos. exp. in researching, developing or implementing policies related to social services, health services, public policy or comparable field;
AND 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in research methodology, measurement & testing, analysis of variance & survey sampling;
AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in use of computer hardware & software used for spreadsheets, statistical analysis, graphics presentation & word processing.
OR OPTION 3:
2 yrs. exp. as Human Services Developer 1, 69461, with experience commensurate with duties to be assigned per posting of job opportunity.
OR OPTION 4:
Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Pay Information
This position is in the State of Ohio’s SEIU/1199 Pay Range Schedule, Pay Range 13. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $34.96 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.
