Certified Peer Specialist – Mobile Crisis Outreach Team
Bellingham, WA Full-Time 12 Hour Shifts
Shift: Wed - Fri, 12pm - MidnightWho You'll Be Working With
The Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT) provides mobile, on-demand behavioral health crisis support to individuals of all ages throughout the community. Whether in homes, shelters, schools, or on the streets, MCOT engages clients experiencing mental health or substance use crises, helping them stabilize, navigate challenges, and access further care using trauma-informed, culturally responsive, recovery-based methods.What You’ll Be Doing
As a Peer Counselor, you will use your lived experience with behavioral health to connect with individuals in crisis, offering hope, encouragement, and tools for recovery. Your role is vital in helping clients feel heard, empowered, and supported.
Key responsibilities:
Provide peer support and mentorship to promote hope and self-determination
Help clients navigate community and natural supports, including treatment resources
Validate clients’ lived experience and offer encouragement through shared understanding
Support family/natural supports with information and empathy
Collaborate with clinical staff in setting and reviewing client-centered goals
Monitor symptoms and behaviors as part of a multi-disciplinary teamWhat You Bring
Lived experience with behavioral health or substance use challenges (required)
Washington State Peer Counselor Certification (preferred)
Valid WA Driver’s License and vehicle insurance, if applicable
DOH Agency Affiliated Counselor application (required upon hire if not licensed)
