Position Title: Transportation Data Specialist

Division: Operations/Transportation

Reports To: Executive Director, Transportation or Director, Transportation

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary Schedule: IT1-2

Work Days: 244

Essential Duties:

Assist in the coordination of safe and efficient transportation of students.

Develop and manage multiple databases on various platforms including Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Access.

Develop and support various web-based applications including departmental web site.

Analyze and develop effective procedures to increase accuracy and efficiency of student information used by schools and departments.

Analyze existing procedures for efficiency and effectiveness and develop new procedures to improve workflow.

Identify, create, and manage data systems to support departmental budget.

Develop and maintain various reports used by department, schools, administrators, and state authorities.

Facilitate the movement of data between the Transportation Department and various other departments to include Payroll, Student Services, and Planning.

Maintain major application programs and documentation, as assigned.

Assist in ensuring electronics on buses are installed and functioning properly.

Assist in the training of personnel on system software and technology.

Evaluate and modify unsafe bus stops; assist with determining student eligibility for transportation.

Act as Transportation liaison to parents for complaints and special requests.

Inform patrons about routes, schedules, and county policies as questions arise.

Complete and dispatch appropriate reports; assist with safety workshops and safety meetings.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications:

Minimum of a High School Diploma or state-approved High School Equivalency (HSE), required; college or technical school diploma, preferred.

Three to five years of database management experience required. Edulog experience or working with other transportation software (bus routing, boundary planning, mapping), preferred.

Experience working with microcomputers on a Windows-based platform.

Experience in an educational setting, preferred.

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of system personnel and other stakeholders.

Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.

Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.

Ability to be present at the physical worksite.

Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.

Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.

Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
