Description
Under the general direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Human Resources Director plans, coordinates and implements a wide variety of activities related to the agency’s human resources activity. Including salary administration, fair employment practices, interpreting legislative and regulatory compliance information, provide professional assistance to management and staff. This is a leadership position within our agency. Leaders at Iris are expected to coach, develop, mentor, guide, support and teach staff to instill Iris core values, beliefs, vision and mission related to quality service to families and children, as well as one another.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
In consultation with the CFO, to establish short and long-term goals for the Human Resources activity of the agency.
In collaboration with the Board of Directors this role will prepare and execute the agency’s benefit packages, including salary and wages.
This role will oversee the coordination with payroll and benefits providers to ensure effective processes.
Ensure all HR and employee policies and handbooks are current and legally compliant following best practice in relation to local/state and federal laws.
Train all staff on updated policies and procedures.
Coordinate with legal and compliance teams as needed.
Responsible for the execution of the agency’s employee recruitment, hiring, onboarding and retention plan using traditional and out of the box thinking methods to best attract and retain qualified candidates.
Network within the HR community and the community as a whole to stay ahead of trends, laws and innovative ideas in regard to HR
Conduct employee satisfaction surveys, retention surveys and wage analysis on a yearly basis, or as identified by the governing body.
Implement a consistent performance management process, including but not limited to re-tooling of role descriptions to include measurable objective and a performance evaluation process that is based on objectives and scorecards to ensure accountability in the role.
On a quarterly basis, conduct a trend analysis for the following areas: recruitment, turnover by department, exit interviews as related to Iris.
Maintains and ensures that all personnel records/files are up to date, including all background checks as requested by state funding.
Monitor licensure, credentialing, and contract compliance.
Employee relations: investigates all employee or client complaints against employees and makes
recommendations for corrective actions.
Provides professional assistance to managers and staff in problem solving situations.
Works in collaboration with the payroll/finance department to ensure accuracy of staff classification termination, status changes and final employee compensation.
Recommends appropriate changes in personnel systems and procedures to promote greater efficiency, cost savings, or benefits for the agency and its personnel.
Apprises other directors, managers, and supervisors of their responsibility under state and federal employment regulations and contractual obligations.
Generate monthly reports on headcount, turnover and hiring metrics.
Analyze trends in employee engagement and retention and present actionable insights to leadership.
Maintain dashboards for compliance and workforce planning as directed by the strategic plan and annual budget.

3-5 years of professional experience in the administration of human resources, including 3 years of supervisory or leadership capacity.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires flexibility in work schedule, including the need to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Requires the ability to talk or hear and listen.
Requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets or bend and stoop as necessary.
Requires the ability to occasionally lift office supplies, materials and equipment up to 25 pounds.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Some flexibility in hours is allowed, the employee must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status.
RREQUIRED EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree with Major course works in human resources, business and/or related field.
Minimum of 5 years experience in Human Resources
PREFERRED EDUCATION
Master’s degree in Human Resources, with PHR or SHRM certification.
