JOB GOAL:
A behavior interventionist works with targeted individuals to eliminate disruptive and negative behaviors and replace them with positive behaviors and actions. A Behavior Interventionist provides support to targeted students who are at-risk of failure. Targeted students will be managed using behavior interventions and social supports. Behavior Interventionist will also be responsible to build and maintain two-way communication with families and the community in order to support their caseload. Behavior Interventionist will also create, maintain, and manage multiple forms of data used to track caseload students. QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
Preferred background in teaching, counseling or social work.
Experience working with K-12 aged at-risk students. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to work well with others including professional conversations, creating and maintaining school processes and procedures, and facilitates family conferences with staff.
Ability to work with students both one-to-one and in small groups focused on behavior interventions.
Experience working with K-12 students including being a mentor and behavior monitor.
Experience with Restorative Practices and working with at-risk youth and their families.
Ability to mediate and refocus students, staff and families on behavioral success.
Dependable, reliable and willing to work a flexible schedule.
Self-motivated to problem solve and creative in resolving school-based issues.
Understanding and willingness to connect to the community at large.
Knowledge of PBIS framework and implementation with ability to lead from this framework.
Understanding of MTSS structure and data-driven decision making
Experience with Tier 2 and Tier 3 behavioral interventions
Ability to collect and analyze behavioral data within MTSS framework
Experience and ability to collaborate with MTSS teams DUITES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain confidentiality regarding information of a sensitive nature.
Manage a caseload of at-risk students supporting behavioral, and social issues that affect student achievement.
Working closely with the individual and with other professionals, such as teachers, to assess the client's behaviors and create a specially designed plan
Implementing the plan
Providing ongoing assessments of progress
Creating general strategies for behavior improvement
Conflict resolution
Crisis intervention
Assisting other professionals who work with the client in their daily environment
Create and maintain plans for students who are behind in credits toward graduation and below grade level in reading and math.
Work with Restorative Practices to support at-risk students in their academic and behavioral progress through school.
Build and maintain relationships with students and their families to ensure students meet the goals outlined in behavior plans.
Monitor and maintain data to support the programming and complete year-end report for program evaluation.
Other duties as assigned by building administration.
WORKING LENGTH: 10-month position
SALARY: Salaried Position with benefits, depending on background and experience starting at $61,000.
