Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Controller to join a dynamic construction company based in Norfolk, Virginia. This is a Contract-to-permanent position, offering an excellent opportunity for professionals with a strong background in full-cycle accounting and financial management. The role requires expertise in month-end and year-end closing processes, as well as proficiency in financial systems and reconciliation.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of full-cycle accounting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

• Manage month-end and year-end close procedures to deliver timely and accurate financial reports.

• Perform credit card reconciliations and maintain detailed financial records.

• Supervise general ledger activities, including posting, adjustments, and account analysis.

• Ensure proper document control and organization for financial data and records.

• Utilize Spectrum software to streamline financial operations and reporting.

• Collaborate with management to provide insights and recommendations for financial strategy.

• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

• Support audits and provide necessary documentation for compliance purposes.

• Train and guide team members on financial procedures and systems.• Minimum of 5 years of experience in full-cycle accounting in a setting requiring attention to detail.

• Proven expertise in month-end and year-end closing processes.

• Strong skills in credit card reconciliation and general ledger management.

• Familiarity with Spectrum software or similar financial systems.

• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.

• Ability to analyze and interpret financial data to drive decision-making.

• Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members and stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
