Job Title: Principal Engineer

Duties:

Define scope of technical programs and develop effective, quality solutions to challenges involving unique or controversial problems.

Creatively meet all company and industry requirements and apply site systems to achieve quality, timely, and cost-effective results.

Provide quality guidance and assistance to less senior professionals on related tasks.

Apply technical expertise in a field of specialization, or broad-based experience in multiple fields, to resolve complex problems.

Incorporate advanced practices and features such as complicated technical requirements, new materials/processes, and difficult coordination or oversight into problem solving and planning.

Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized for expertise in designated technical areas.

Provide direction across departmental lines on programs seeking new approaches or new applications of existing engineering/scientific principles.

Evaluate results of programs and prepare reports and recommendations based on findings.

Identify and recommend improvements where established technology and methods are inadequate.

Stay current on advancements in applicable technology.

Prepare plans including schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements for technical tasks.

Develop schedules, monitor progress and expenditures, and review quality of work performed.

Communicate results and objectives verbally and in written form to customers, colleagues, and management.

Occasionally prepare reports for external publication.

Enhance expertise through continuing education and professional engagement.
