Job Description
Position Summary:
Responsible for estimating and takeoffs of plumbing and HVAC including sheet metal
Reading and understanding project specifications and drawings
Provide projects material takeoffs and pricing
Attend project site surveys and walks
Proficient in inputting missing information in the bid documents. Completing the design with intent.
Must stay current with all estimating software and attend training courses as needed and/or required.
Provides the VP of Estimating quantitative material take-offs and inputs information into spreadsheets.
Ensures smooth and timely estimates.
Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to secure scopes and pricing including but not limited to calling and/or meeting with them to discuss their scope of work.
Ability to clearly write scope letters.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
A good understanding of all aspects of estimating for mechanical contracting and be able to communicate effectively with contractors, designers, owners, and job-site personnel, while representing in a professional manner.
Must be able to understand the design intent and fill in missing information to complete an estimate.
8 years' experience in commercial plumbing, heating, and or fire protection estimating, or completion of approved apprenticeship program and 5 years' experience as a Journeyman.
5-8 years prior estimating experience.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
Knowledge of general plumbing and piping installation, sheet metal, HVAC, or fire protection (as assigned).
Good math ability.
Good computer skills (knowledgeable with Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook).
Detail oriented.
Good time management.
Understanding confidentiality.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to learn new systems and technologies.
Trimble Viewpoint and/or QuickPen, Autodesk Est-MEP, and QuoteSoft experience preferred.
Bluebeam experience preferred.
Ability to communicate on a professional level in front of peers, co-workers, and customers.
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, required.
Journeyman Plumber license or equivalent experience.
Journeyman HVAC license or equivalent experience.
Journeyman Fire Protection license or equivalent experience.
Eyesight correctable to 20/50
Capable of job site tours, climbing ladders and on/off equipment, etc.
Special Requirements:
Valid driver's license.
OSHA 10 hours.
Required to work onsite within office location.
