New Albany Country Club is looking to hire a receiver/purchasing assistant. This is a full-time position.
Hours: 6 am - 2 pm Tuesday - Saturday
Pay Rate: $19.00/hour
Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or GED.
Hospitality Industry experience preferred.
Job Knowledge:
Knowledge of procedures to receive, store, and maintain all purchases. Keep records and compile stock reports. Prepare items for shipment.
Job Summary: Receive, unpack, verify, store, and maintain all purchases. Fill in as the purchaser in his/her absence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Receiving and putting product away (should be completed by 12:30 pm every day).
Label, date, and put a cost on all applicable products. Also, clearly identify the product for the applicable area when necessary (Catering, sports cafe, brunch, etc.)
Weigh all new products, always checking for quality control. Any returns or shortages must be immediately noted on the invoice/packing slip and evaluated to see if the product is needed for that day. If so, the salesperson or the purchaser must be notified at the time of the shortage. Take ownership of product shortages and take care of them immediately.
Follow new trained guidelines for receiving product in each category as each has a specific protocol for quality control: Produce, Dairy, Meat, Seafood, Frozen items, Dry Storage.
Ensure that all items are stored 6" off the floor by the end of the shift.
Change all seafood ice bins twice a week.
Check all temperatures of food upon arrival and upon checking in.
Assist in logging yields for Yellow Dog on all items received to better categorize costs for all products.
Log temperatures on coolers and freezers.
Be responsible for the cleanliness and organization of the back-dock, contacting vendors to take milk crates and bread boxes back to the company.
Be responsible for the cleanliness and organization of all storage areas/coolers.
Maintain cleanliness of all areas used in the back kitchen.
Take a greater role in quality control as the product comes in the door. Every product that comes through receiving must meet our quality standards.
Assist in food ordering when necessary.
Fill all requisitions with 100% accuracy. Any requisition turned in the night before takes priority, and must be filled during the a.m.
Assist with determining supply order needs; learn par levels, vendor product info, and order lead times. Begin to place some supply orders as we get closer to the summer months.
Work closely with kitchen staff, communicating and identifying products that need to be utilized.
Assist with month-end food inventory, preparing and organizing areas ahead of time.
Assist in counting inventory.
Assist in filling vending machines and maintaining par stock.
Take on an ownership role with inventory. If we are getting low on certain products, communicate with the purchasing manager. Treat inventory as if it were your own.
Do a walk-through in each storage area late in the morning to make sure areas are organized and clean, and check if we need a product.
Support kitchen staff when needed.
Self-Starter
All other duties as assigned.
Licenses and Special Requirements
Food safety certification.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Must be able to handle hot and cold interior and outdoor conditions.
Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, stand and lift up to 40 pounds.
Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
Moderate noise level in the work environment.
