The Payroll Specialist within RKL Virtual’s HRIS team is essential for delivering accurate and timely payroll services to our clients. This role focuses on processing payrolls, managing prior balances during implementation, and integrating 401(k) filings. The Payroll Specialist acts as a primary contact for payroll clients and is responsible for a range of backend payroll functions, ensuring compliance and efficiency in all payroll-related activities.

Process client payrolls, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery
Manage daily ACH transactions and maintain compliance with payment schedules and tax impounds
Actively participate client discovery, kick off and implementation calls and perform analysis of client needs
Conduct new hire reporting procedures in both iSolved and the state website, possibly having to research and register on the clients behalf
Register clients for state accounts, such as Unemployment and state tax registration
Perform client onboarding activities, including adding client, employee, and wage information into iSolved
Handle prior balance entries and reconciliations during the implementation of new payroll systems
Integrate 401(k) contributions and manage related reporting and compliance
Conduct backend new hire reporting and process ACH payments
Monitor the payroll inbox and respond to client inquiries and requests
Provide support to the HRIS specialist team in troubleshooting client payroll issues and HRIS-system issues
Participate in client discovery and implementation meetings, offering insights and analysis
Collaborate on data collection and template creation for client information imports
Audit and reconcile imported data to ensure accurate parallel payroll runs
Troubleshoot and test errors within the payroll system, ensuring data integrity
Analyze client data submissions for HRIS system translation and optimization
Support internal and external client training, provide demos, and ensure ongoing client satisfaction
Assist with insurance and workers' compensation audits by gathering necessary information
Participate in iSolved trainings and contribute to the documentation of payroll processes
Any other duty as needed to drive to the vison, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of this organization

Understanding of payroll processing, including tax regulations, timing considerations, and special pay scenarios (e.g., bonuses, special pay runs)
Proficiency in HRIS platforms (iSolved preferred) and familiarity with third party vendors for data analysis and reporting

Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality control in all aspects of payroll
Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications and Zoom
Proficient in setting priorities, managing multiple projects, overcoming obstacles, and utilizing organizational skills to accomplish tasks quickly
Education, Experience and Certifications
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, HR, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on payroll and tax regulations
Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll and payroll taxes
Certified Payroll Professional or Fundamental Payroll Certification preferred
Must have a valid driver’s license
