Salary: $60,000 - $70,000

Essential Functions:

Prepare and analyze various financial reports, including month-end related reports and reporting for grants and programs.

Prepare standard monthly general journal entries.

Reconcile overhead and fringe allocations and produce month-end labor reports.

Assist with monthly project financial analysis.

Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements.

Perform various types of account analysis.

Assist with audit schedules and prep work for schedule of federal awards by project.

Monitor actual expenses vs. budgets.

Perform the agency budgeting process and preparation with the Finance Director.

Coordinate finance-related contracting functions for the agency.

Ensure complete and accurate budget entry into the agency budget in the accounting and related systems.

Assist and maintain in providing agencys insurance needs which includes being the primary contact person between the insurance agency and MORPC, maintaining insurance certificates for MORPC and MORPC contractor certificates.

Track and perform various other finance department tasks.

Other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications-Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), nonprofit/governmental accounting standards, and accrual basis

Ability to perform accurate and timely general ledger reconciliations and account analysis

Skilled in journal entry preparation, financial reporting, and month/year-end close procedures

Ability to interpret and apply complex grant and funder requirements

Ability to assist in the development, monitoring, and revision of departmental grant budgets

Ability to review budget-to-actual reports and identify variances

Ability to collaborate with program staff to gather and analyze financial data for budgeting purposes

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and formulas) and ability to learn new financial systems quickly

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information to non-finance staff

Ability to collaborate with other departments and provide excellent internal customer service

Requires meticulous attention to detail and accuracy

Grants fiscal management experience is preferred

Indirect allocation experience is preferred

Acceptable Experience and Training:

Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or related field (required)

Minimum of five (5) years experience preferred, in accounting or finance, preferably in a non-profit or government

Financial statement preparation, budgetary and grant monitoring experience

Experience with general ledger reconciliations, month-end and year-end close, and audit preparation

Experience with accounting software (e.g., MIP Abila, etc.) preferred
