Role Overview
The Technical Writer is responsible for the design, development and ongoing maintenance of procedural documents and standard document templates for Utilization Management (UM) Enterprise Operations. This role is responsible for a highly functional web-based repository in which associates can easily locate procedural documents and reference information. The Technical Writer is responsible for collaborating with the appropriate departments to ensure all documents are accurate and in compliance.

Responsibilities
Works with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the function and/or system and the documentation requirements
Works collaboratively with SMEs and UM leadership on confirming accurate process documentation, development of resources for the enterprise and contractual nuances based on the needs of specific lines of business
Explains UM & UM related technical processes in simple, clear, and concise language
Ensures accuracy, clarity, appropriateness, and consistency of documentation
Analyzes existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities
Assesses for need to develop additional workflows or enhance existing workflow presentation for more efficient use
Supports the translation of Translates the business processes into a format that can be used needs into on an engaging and functional resource library/intranet site
Proactively works with the necessary departments (i.e. instructional design, utilization management leadership) to revise processes and update resource library as needed through proactive content management
Actively participates in the development of training materials relative to UM processes and procedures
Produces high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience
Assesses the need for new or revised content in support of change management resulting from new projects or process/technology change
Participates in business meetings to support changes to business rules
Education and Experience
At least three to five (3 – 5) years of Technical Writing, Policy and Procedure, process Development experience
Previous experience in managed care (Medicaid, Medicare preferred)
Preferred experience in healthcare policy, processes and contracts, rules and regulations
Proficient working knowledge of SharePoint, MS word, MS Excel and Outlook
Experience in RoboHelp or other Help authoring software and familiar with HTML and CSS languages
Experience applying Information Mapping concepts and techniques
Excellent command of English language, both written and verbal, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling; excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills required
Aptitude to analyze existing workflows, processes, supporting systems and procedures and identify improvements
Design, modify, develop, and support development of high quality templates, reports and other written materials with superior attention to detail
Bachelor’s Degree( preferred) in Communications, Healthcare Related, Public Policy (healthcare preferred)
