If solving problems with precision programming excites you, step into our PLC & VFD Programmer role and power up automation. We are looking for an experienced PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) / VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) Programmer to join our small but mighty team. Based in our Houston, TX Headquarters, you will work a Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm, with occasional overtime. This position reports directly to the Automation and Control Manager.

Essential Functions:

Assist in the development of Project Functional Technical Specifications, Testing Documents, etc.

Read and understand P&ID’s, loop diagrams, process flow diagrams.

Proficient in a PLC programming software suite including: Siemens TIA Portal, Omron CX- One, Allen-Bradley Rockwell Studio 5000, and/or GE Proficy. (Siemens TIA Portal, CX-One, WinCC and CX-Designer preferred).

Basic VFD operation knowledge. Yaskawa A1000, V1000, GA500/800, Siemens G Series.

Develop HMI software applications.

Develop PLC software programs.

Design Control Panels.

Generate supporting documentation (BOM, Drawings, Manuals, etc.).

Configure/calibrate field instrumentation and other equipment.

PLC troubleshooting.

Perform upgrades of hardware and software and train others on how to properly operate the system.

Educating and training the team members on these devices.

Providing excellent interdepartmental service and satisfaction.

Working in collaboration with the Electrical team members.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to read and interpret Engineering Drawings and Schematics.

Ability to follow instructions and independently function to meet departmental requirements within a defined time frame.

Digital Multi Meter use.

Able to generate 2D AutoCAD or Solid Works electrical enclosure and schematic drawings.

Computer skills (MS Office and Outlook applications).

Attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy.

Identify unsafe conditions or potential hazards within the work environment.

Ability to load programs and parameters sets.

Basic knowledge of variable frequency drive electrical systems. (Siemens, Yaskawa, AB).

Ability to generate, read, interpret and draw electrical system structures.

Excellent troubleshooting abilities.

Basic Knowledge and experience in calibrating equipment.

Experience working with low voltage devices. 600VAC and lower.

Demonstrate the ability to work under minimal supervision.

Good interpersonal and time management skills.

Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

Minimum Required Education, Credentials, Licenses and Experience:

1+ years of work experience with Variable Frequency Drives as a Technician, or a similar position in the engineering field.

2+ years of work experience as a PLC technician, or a similar position in the engineering field. (Siemens, Omron).

Applicants having successfully completed a minimum of a two-year associate’s degree in Instrumentation (or an equivalent program in a related field), preferred.

Applicants must have completed a minimum level of education, including a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent credential.

As a condition of employment, candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening, which will include a urine and hair follicle testing, consistent with applicable law.

Requirements

PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) experience.

VFT (Variable Frequency Drive) experience.

Electrical Designer experience.

Prior experience working as a PLC Programmer.

Prior experience working as a VFP Technician.
